To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations have been made to the Government of Grenada concerning the recent pronouncement of the death penalty on 14 people following their conviction for the murder of Maurice Bishop in 1983; and if he will make a statement.

The hon. Gentleman will be aware that the Prime Minister of Grenada announced on 14 August that all the death sentences on those convicted of the murder of Maurice Bishop had been commuted to life imprisonment.
