HC Deb 27 November 1991 vol 199 cc532-5W
Mr. Gareth Wardell

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will publish for each family health service authority area in England(a) its population, (b) the number of people registered with a general dental practitioner, (c) the ratio of general dental practitioners to the number of people registered, (d) (b) as a percentage of (a) and (e) the percentage of children under the age of 18 years registered with a general dental practitioner.

Mr. Dorrell

The information is shown in the table. The new dental contract introduced in October last year provides for the first time, all-round continuing care. More than 21 million people in England have registered with a dentist under the new contract, a faster take-up than we or the dental profession expected.
