To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement about European integration.

Mr. Garel-Jones

The Government see the movement towards closer political union in the European Community as an evolving process, but we hope that it will be possible to make a further step forward at the Maastricht European Council, building on the existing wide range of co-operation.
