HL Deb 21 May 1991 vol 529 c7WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What payments are being made for locating, surveying, marking and clearing minefields (a) by the Kuwaiti Government to Her Majesty's Government; (b) by the Kuwaiti Government to Royal Ordnance plc; and (c) by Royal Ordnance plc to Her Majesty's Government.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of Defence (The Earl of Arran):

The Kuwaiti Government has not been charged for the assistance provided by our Armed Forces in the immediate aftermath of hostilities. The amount paid by the Kuwaiti Government to Royal Ordnance plc is commercially confidential between those two parties. Royal Ordnance plc has agreed to meet the full cost of using military resources based on standard capitation rates, hire charges for equipment, travel and any other costs which may arise.
