HC Deb 20 May 1991 vol 191 c347W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what consultations he has had with the National Association of Taxi and Private Hire Licensing and Enforcement Officers, regarding the disclosure of criminal records; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

The association wrote to my right hon. Friend about this in April. Our reply informed them that the matter would be considered in the context of the response to the scrutiny of criminal records which reported at the end of April.

Mr. Win Griffiths

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many representations he has received on the disclosure of criminal records of the convictions of taxi licence applicants since last October and over the last 12 months.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

We have received 65 representations on this subject during the period 17 June 1990—16 May 1991, some 50 of them after 1 November 1990. In addition, we have had regular discussions and exchanges of correspondence with the Association of County Councils, the Association of District Councils and the Association of Metropolitan Authorities.
