HC Deb 16 May 1991 vol 191 c245W
Mr. Michael Brown

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he has set performance targets for the National Weights and Measures Laboratory executive agency for 1991–92.

Mr. Leigh

Yes. I have set the agency the following targets:

Target 1991–92
Total number of new patterns examined 80
Total number of pattern variants examined 360
Total number of calibration certificates issued 590
Percentage of examinations completed in 18 weeks from registration 75 per cent.
Percentage of certificates published in 12 weeks 80 per cent.
Target annual fee increase 1 per cent. less than inflation
Target increase in cost of calibration of particular weight set 1 per cent. less than inflation

In working towards achieving these targets the National Weights and Measures Laboratory is again planning to offer a higher quality of service to customers at a lower real unit cost.
