To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will state(a) the total number of live reptiles confiscated or seized by Her Majesty's Customs and Excise in 1990 (b) the number of prosecutions entered from such seizures and (c) the number of resulting convictions.

[holding answer 13 May 1991]: A total of 1,567 live reptiles and amphibians were seized by Her Majesty's Customs and Excise in 1990. There were no prosecutions entered from those seizures.
