HC Deb 13 May 1991 vol 191 cc41-2W
Mr. Tony Lloyd

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what consideration he has given to establishing equal opportunities special needs units using the expertise of specialist staff such as psychologists, social workers, nurses and doctors already in the Department to assist industry with particular equal opportunity problems.

Mr. Jackson

The Department has many specialist staff who already help employers wanting advice or assistance in a number of areas which involve individuals with special needs. My right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for Employment recently announced that the Employment Service's specialist disability services would be integrated into a specialist advisory and assessment service. This will help give people with disabilities more equality of opportunity in the labour market.
