HC Deb 09 May 1991 vol 190 c552W
Mr. Hardy

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will state the number of days which have elapsed since toxic waste arrived in Wath upon Dearne near Rotherham.

Mr. Baldry

I understand that the waste arrived at Wath on 9 June 1989 and has therefore been present for 700 days.

Mr. Hardy

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many visits have been paid to the premises of Wath Recycling by officials of his Department in connection with the toxic waste held at these premises since this material arrived in the summer of 1989.

Mr. Trippier

Three visits have been made by Her Majesty's inspectorate of pollution inspectors since the summer of 1989 in connection with the consignment of wastes received at that time. Visits have also been made by the Health and Safety Executive which has advised that it will be making a separate representation on this question.
