To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement concerning his assessment of the prospects in 1991 and 1992 for the Welsh wool-producing sector of agriculture.

Returns in Wales from wool production form, on average, 4 to 6 per cent. of individual producers' total returns from sheep farming. Prospects for wool producers thus depend on a range of factors, including market prices and input costs. Prices for finished lambs in 1991 so far have been following the usual seasonal trend and prices for British wool, although weak,
