HC Deb 07 May 1991 vol 190 c435W
Mr. Tony Lloyd

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what assessment he has made of the cost to the tourism industry of the delays in opening the Conwy tunnel; and if he will make a statement.

Sir Wyn Roberts

There has been no significant delay in the construction of the A55 Conwy crossing scheme, which is planned for completion this autumn. The upgrading of 51 of the 60 miles of the A55 to dual carriageway standard has already greatly enhanced prospects for the economy of north Wales, including the tourism industry.
