HC Deb 03 May 1991 vol 190 cc357-8W
Mr. Battle

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what will be the effect on tax revenues in 1991–92 of freezing the additional personal allowance at £1,720; and what increase in one-parent benefit could be financed from this amount.

Mr. Maude

[holding answer 1 May 1991]: The yield in a full year at 1991–92 levels of income is estimated to be about £20 million compared with statutory indexation. This would finance a 30p per week increase in one-parent benefit.
