§ Mr. Alan ClarkMy right hon. Friend the Prime Minister has stated his support for a United Nations arms transfer register. My Department is working with all other interested Departments to further this important initiative. In parallel, my Department has supplied the chairman for a United Nations experts study group which will be reporting shortly to the Secretary General on measures to promote arms transfer transparency including the setting up of an international arms transfer register.
