§ Mr. Peter BottomleyTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will consider whether earlier and systematic public information on whether a driver killed in a road crash had consumed alcohol would help to maintain awareness of the dangers of drink driving.
§ Mr. ChopeWe publish aggregated figures based on coroners' data about drivers who were over the legal limit which show that the number of people killed in drink-related accidents has been reduced by 50 per cent. in the past 10 years. I do not believe it would assist in our continuing campaign against drinking and driving to publish details of whether or not an individual driver killed in a road crash had consumed alcohol.
