HC Deb 21 March 1991 vol 188 c194W
Mr. Wigley

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what representations he has received concerning organo-phosphorous toxicity arising from the dipping of sheep; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Dorrell

We have received four inquiries regarding possible adverse effects from the organophosphorus sheep dips during the past 10 months. Organophosphorus sheep dip, if properly used, are unlikely to cause harm, although a few people may be unusually sensitive. I understand that the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food is currently reviewing sheep dips.

Anybody who considers that they may have been adversely affected by exposure to sheep dips should report the matter to the veterinary medicines directorate at Weybridge.
