To ask the Secretary of State for Health whether the Government have any plans to establish an agency for inter-country adoption.

There are no plans to establish such an agency. There are 108 local authorities in England which are adoption agencies and a further 37 approved adoption societies. Guidance was issued in September to each of these agencies in relation to the provision of services for inter-country adoption. A copy of CI(90)17 is available in the Library. We expect to issue further guidance shortly.
