To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what percentage of bilateral aid went to low-income countries, as defined by the World bank, in 1990; and what percentage went to least-developed countries, as defined by the United Nations in 1990.

The percentage of United Kingdom gross bilateral aid to low-income countries, as defined by the World bank, was 71.2 per cent. in 1989, the latest year for which figures are available. The proportion going to the least-developed countries, as defined by the UN, was 31.7 per cent. in 1989.
