HC Deb 19 March 1991 vol 188 c91W
23. Mr. Grocott

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence whether he has any plans to make a British contribution to any United Nations peacekeeping force.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

The arrangements for the security of the Gulf states are primarily a matter for the states of the region themselves. Any proposal for a United Nations peacekeeping or observer role would need to be considered carefully by the Security Council in the light of the wishes of the nations concerned.
