To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will set up a committee of inquiry into the matter of waste disposal.

Mr. Baldry

A committee of inquiry is not required. There have been a number of Select Committee inquiries into waste disposal in recent years and a full Government review of waste management policies culminated in the passing of the Environmental Protection Act 1990. That Act will be implemented with a full programme of supporting advice and guidance about which there will be continuing consultation.
