§ Mr. DunnachieTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what action he has taken to rectify those mistakes and miscalculations identified by the Comptroller and Auditor-General in refusing to approve his Department's accounts for(a) 1989–90 and (b) 1990–91; and if he will make a statement.
§ Miss WiddecombeThree of the Department's accounts for 1989–90 were qualified by the Comptroller and Auditor-General. As a result the Department has taken steps to improve its computer systems, provided additional training and guidance to staff and has corrected errors in individual payments. The 1990–91 accounts have not yet been prepared and will be presented for audit in September 1991.
