HC Deb 12 March 1991 vol 187 c481W
Mr. Corbyn

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many Iraqi nationals have to undertake weekly reporting to police stations; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

Four Iraqi nationals who are the subject of either deportation or illegal entry action are required to report weekly to the police; one other is required to report twice weekly. In addition, a number of Iraqis will have been instructed to report to the police at weekly intervals by immigration officers at ports and airports. Details are not available centrally and could be provided only at disproportionate cost.

Mr. Corbyn

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department on what date the Government proposes to make a statement on changes in immigration rules in respect of refugees and asylum-seekers.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

Asylum arrangements are under review, but it is too early to say when or in what way changes might be introduced.
