§ Mr. Dover
To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if special financial resources will be allocated to local authorities to enable them to implement the requirements of the Environmental Protection Act.
§ Mr. Baldry
An additional £11 million in capital allocations has been allocated in 1991–92 to waste disposal authorities in England for improvements to landfill sites and other disposal facilities to enable them to meet the higher standards that will be required by the Environmental Protection Act. Further provision is planned for future years. As with all new duties falling on local authorities, the revenue consequences of the Environmental Protection Act, have been reflected in the 1991–92 revenue support grant settlement.
