HL Deb 11 March 1991 vol 527 c3WA
Lord Molloy

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they intend to make in full the increase in basic pay recommended by the nurses' review body, and if so when.

Baroness Hooper:

My right honourable friend the Prime Minister announced in another place on 31st January at cols. 578–9 that the Government have accepted in full the recommendations of the Review Body for Nursing Staff, Midwives, Health Visitors and Professions Allied to Medicine for 1991/92 and are implementing them in two stages. Most nurses will receive 7.5 per cent. from 1st April and a further 2 per cent. from 1st December. Lower paid nursing staff, for whom the review body has recommended higher increases, will receive all but 2 per cent. from 1st April. with the balance paid from 1st December.
