HC Deb 11 March 1991 vol 187 c372W
Dr. Marek

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what has been the cost of provision for child care for civil servants.

Mrs. Gillian Shephard

In 1989 the Treasury gave Departments discretion to contribute towards the costs of child care facilities where this offered value for money and could be contained within existing departmental running costs limits. Information on how much has been spent on child care is not held centrally and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
