HC Deb 01 March 1991 vol 186 c663W
Mr. Simon Hughes

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what actions have been taken since the appointment of a Minister in his Department to consider the environmental implications of his Department's policies; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

This Department has been active in implementing and developing the commitments made in the Environment White Paper, "This Common Inheritance", since its publication in September 1990. Our departmental report, published on 13 February 1991, records progress on international environmental questions. It is part of the FCO's continuing responsibilities to ensure that environmental implications are taken into account in formulating foreign policy. FCO resources devoted to the environment at home and overseas have recently been reinforced.
