HL Deb 26 June 1991 vol 530 c42WA
Lord Gainford

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What plans they have to commence provisions of the Companies Act 1989.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Trade and Industry (Lord Reay)

On Monday 24th June my honourable friend the Minister for Corporate Affairs signed an order which brings into operation certain provisions of the Act. The provisions in question are:—the powers to make regulations under Section 35 (Section 35 concerns the establishment of a register of auditors); and—the powers to make regulations under Section 36 (Section 36 concerns information about audit firms which must be made available to the public). The regulations themselves will follow shortly.

I have placed a copy of the order in the Library.
