§ Mr. Alan HowarthAs at 20 June 1991 over 181,000 students had applied for a loan from the Student Loans Company Ltd. Over 153,000 loans had been issued, with a total value of £59.2 million.
Between September 1990, when the scheme became operational, and 31 May 1991, the company's running costs were £7.73 million, exclusive of VAT.
