To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will outline the procedure required for lodging an application for European regional development grant.

Mr. Leigh

Applications for European regional development fund (ERDF) grants are made to the secretariat of the monitoring committee of the appropriate ERDF programme. The secretariats for programmes in the north-west are provided by the Department of the Environment's regional offices in Manchester and Liverpool.

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what has been the North-West region's share of European regional development grant in each year since the United Kingdom joined the EC.
