To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether the remand contracts unit of the prison department is undertaking an in-house costing for Wolds remand prison; and if he will make a statement.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the estimate of the annual running costs of the new Wolds remand prison.

A costing for use in comparison with tenders is being prepared.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many of the companies which have tendered for the Wolds remand prison contract have put in tenders in excess of the in-house costing of the prison department.

§ Mrs. Rumbold
No tenders for the operation of Wolds remand prison have yet been received. Companies are required to submit their tenders by 19 July.
