HC Deb 19 June 1991 vol 193 c237W
Mr. Nelson

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence whether he will make a statement on the future of the Royal Military Police training barracks at Chichester.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

We are currently studying the most cost-effective means of meeting the RMP's future training requirement. I shall keep my hon. Friend informed.

Mr. Nelson

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what was the number of trainees who passed through the Royal Military Police Rousillon barracks in Chichester in 1990; and what numbers he anticipates entering training courses there in 1991–92 and 1992–93.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

In 1990–91, a total of 388 trainees entered the Royal Military Police training centre, Rousillon barracks, Chichester. Of these, 272 successfully completed their training. However, reflecting the RMP's healthy manning situation, only 150 are expected to enter training courses in 1991–92. It will be several months before recruit allocations are made for 1992–93.
