HL Deb 17 June 1991 vol 530 c4WA
The Countess of Mar

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether nurses awaiting regrading appeals who are now employed by trust hospitals, or by hospitals which are likely to become trust hospitals before their appeals are heard, will be guaranteed the same treatment as other nurses, and whether those whose appeals are successful will be paid retrospectively.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Health (Baroness Hooper)

Staff transferring to trust employment retain their existing terms and conditions of service.

Where nurse grading appeals are outstanding at the time of the transfer to NHS trust employment, the NHS trust will assume responsibility for the appeal. The NHS trust will also be responsible for meeting any back pay where an appeal is successful.
