§ Mrs. ChalkerAll aid to the Burmese Government was suspended in a joint decision by the EC Twelve following the repression of dissent in 1988. Other major donors acted similarly. We have no plans to resume aid until there is an improvement in the human rights position in Burma and significant movement towards democracy.
