To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many days were lost through sickness in local government in the last available year, and what is the number of statutory sick days allowed in each sector.

My Department does not collect information on time off through sickness in local government. The terms and conditions of employment of local authority staff, including time off through sickness, are, by section 112 of the Local Government Act 1972, a question to be settled by each local authority.
