For the most recent period for which statistics are available, how many people were killed by stolen cars driven by children and young people which were not being chased.
§ The Minister of State, Department of Transport (Lord Brabazon of Tara)The Department of Transport is unable to provide information regarding accidents involving stolen vehicles and chases at present.
In 1989 there were 42 fatalities in accidents involving at least one car driver aged 16 or under. Of these, four were car drivers aged 16 or under, 10 were passengers in those cars, 21 were occupants of other cars, five were pedestrians and two were motorcycle users.
