To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many prisoners are currently held at Sudbury prison.

On Monday 10 June 1991 there were 497 prisoners on the roll at Sudbury prison, 405 in the main prison and 92 in the Foston hall annexe.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many prisoners were released from Sudbury prison during the last 12 months for which figures are available.

Mrs. Rumbold

According to the records held centrally, which are approximate, about 1,020 prisoners were discharged from Sudbury prison on licence or on completion of sentence in 1990.
