Mr. McLeish

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science, pursuant to his answer to the hon. Member for Leeds, Central (Mr. Fatchett) of 15 April,Official Report, column 50, on expenditure on university pay, if he will break down the figure for other staff between (a) manual and ancillary workers, (b) clerical and certain related administrative staff and (c) technical staff, and express each as a percentage of the total universities general recurrent expenditure in the United Kingdom.
