To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what information he has of how many children were in care in the area of the Llanelli borough council at the latest available date.

Information is held centrally only on the numbers of children in care by county area. There were 275 children in care in Dyfed on 31 March 1990.

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many children were in local authority care in Wales at the latest available date.

There were 3,278 children in local authority care in Wales on 31 March 1990.

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many children in local authority care in Wales at the latest available date were in(a) residential care and (b) under the care of foster parents.

There were 585 children in local authority care in residential accommodation on 31 March 1990. Of these, 569 were in local authority community homes and the remaining 16 in registered voluntary homes and hostels.

There were 1,994 children in local authority care with foster parents on 31 March 1990.

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many children were in care in(a) Dyfed, (b) West Glamorgan and (c) Mid-Glamorgan at the latest available date.

There were 275 children in care in Dyfed, 365 in West Glamorgan and 757 in Mid Glamorgan on 31 March 1990.
