§ Sir Wyn RobertsAssessment forms an integral part of the national curriculum. The Government remain committed to the statutory assessment for seven, 11, 14 and 16-year-old pupils. The arrangements for testing seven-year-olds next year will be reviewed in light of the evaluation of this year's exercise currently being undertaken by the School Examinations and Assessment Council.
