§ Mr. Archie Hamilton[holding answer 3 June 1991]: A total of 877 members of the volunteer reserves were called out for service during Operation Granby. Nearly 500 other personnel from the Territorial Army served on short service voluntary commissions or special type S short-term attachments with the regular Army last year, many in support of Operation Granby, and 6 Royal Marines Reservists undertook similar attachments with the Royal Marines. In addition, considerable assistance was provided by volunteer reservists on an informal basis at local level.
