To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what are the criteria for changing a part-time fire station into a full-time station.

Mr. Needham

The criteria for changing a part-time fire station into a full-time station are those which form part of a review of fire cover in any particular brigade area. The following factors are taken into account in any such review:

  • risk category
  • attendance times
  • response time
  • travel time
  • availability of retained personnel, and the number of fire calls
