HC Deb 06 June 1991 vol 192 c324W
Mr. Galbraith

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give for each health board the number of regraded medical physics technicians, pharmacy technicians and medical photographers who have appealed against their new grade; and how many of these appeals have been heard.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

Information on appeals lodged with health boards against their implementation of a new pay and grading structure for various groups of technicians and the length of time it has taken to process them is not held centrally and could be provided only at disproportionate cost.

Mr. Galbraith

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many, both in absolute and percentage terms, of physiological measurement technicians, cardiology, were upgraded during the recent restructuring exercise in(a) Greater Glasgow health board and (b) all other health boards.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

The agreement concluded by the Professional and Technical Staffs B Whitley council in September 1989 related to a new pay and grading structure for various groups of technicians, including physiological measurement technicians and cardiographers. Information is not held centrally on the grades of staff prior and subsequent to implementation of the agreement and could be provided only at disproportionate cost. In the financial sense, all staff received an increase on assimilation to the pay spine, which was one of the features of the agreement.
