Medium and long-term prospects for the United Kingdom car industry are excellent, with annual production likely to reach 2 million units by the mid to late 1990s.
§ 24. Mr. Peter BottomleyTo ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement on the increase in British car production that is expected to follow the investments being made in this country by Japanese car companies.
§ Mr. LeighThe investment projects currently being undertaken in the United Kingdom by Nissan, Toyota and Honda will bring at least 500,000 units of new production capacity to the United Kingdom by the mid to late 1990s.
