HC Deb 03 June 1991 vol 192 c77W
Mr. Bernie Grant

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will place in the Library, as soon as they become available, minutes of the ad hoc group on immigration, to which the British Government are a party.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

No. The ad hoc working group on immigration is an intergovernmental forum and it is not usual to publish details of intergovernmental negotiations while they are taking place. This group is directly accountable to EC immigration Ministers who are kept fully informed of its work. Public statements are normally issued following each of the six-monthly meetings of immigration Ministers and my right hon. Friend will, in the usual way, report to the House the conclusions of the meeting of immigration Ministers due to take place in Luxembourg later this month.
