§ Mr. ColvinTo ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry (1) what criteria he adopted in agreeing the increases in the budget for the Securities and Investments Board for 1991–92;
(2) what consultation there has been between his Department, the Securities and Investments Board, the self-regulatory bodies and the recognised professional bodies on the increase in respective contributions to the Securities and Investments Board budget for 1991–92; and what changes were made as a result of those consultations.
§ Mr. RedwoodThe Securities and Investments Board's budget is a matter for the board. I have had discussions with the chairman recently and have a further meeting planned next week. He has assured me that he and his board attach great importance to ensuring that costs are kept under firm control.
