§ Mr. JannerTo ask the Secretary of State for Employment what was the length of and reasons for the delays in the preparation of guidance by the Health and Safety Executive on pop concerts and similar events.
§ Mr. ForthPreparation of the guidance on safety at pop concerts, which is to be issued jointly by the Health and Safety Commission and the Home Office, started in spring 1990. It was initially hoped that a draft would be available for consultation in late summer 1990.
Preparation of the guidance was delayed because of the complexity of the issues which needed to be addressed and the need to seek and obtain specialist advice.
It is now hoped that a draft will be available for public consultation in October this year and, as the hon. and learned Member will be aware, the matter is being treated with high priority.
