HC Deb 25 July 1991 vol 195 cc859-60W
Mr. Galbraith

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what representations he has had regarding the closure of the upper floor of Brechin infirmary about the reduction in the number of general practitioner beds; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

I have received seven letters on Tayside health board's proposals to rationalise general practitioner beds at Brechin infirmary.

It is the responsibility of the health board, in the light of local circumstances and priorities, to determine the extent and level of services it provides and to review the adequacy of such services to ensure that the best use is made of resources.
