HC Deb 24 July 1991 vol 195 cc671-2W
Mr. Kirkwood

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what would be the cost of increasing the level of severe disablement allowance to that of invalidity benefit.

Mr. Scott

We estimate that the gross cost of increasing the basic rate of severe disablement allowance to the basic rate of invalidity benefit would be about £270 million a year; the net cost would be about £120 million a year.
