HL Deb 24 July 1991 vol 531 c66WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Following the Granada "World in Action" programme of 8th July, what measures they propose to prevent further abuse and exploitation of overseas domestic workers already in England.

Earl Ferrers

In my Written Answer to a Question by the noble Lord, Lord Mountevans on 16th May 1991 (col.WA 73) I announced the measures we were introducing to minimize the scope for abuse of overseas domestic workers, both coming to the United Kingdom and already in this country. An important measure in both cases is the leaflet, which is now issued to applicants when they receive an entry clearance abroad or further leave to remain in this country, and which sets out their rights here and where they can seek help and advice.
