To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will publish figures showing(a) the latest available total of live births in Wales, (b) the percentage of mothers between the ages of 15 and 19 years, (c) the latest available figures of births outside marriage, (d) the rate of births per 1,000 population and (e) the latest fertility rates, and corresponding figures for 1961, 1971, 1981, and 1989.

Available data in respect of live births to residents of Wales are shown in the table:

close to the original deadline of the end of July. As I mentioned in my letter of 8 July, some further monitoring work is under way but I would not want to take a firm view on the length of time for this before having seen the Hydrotechnica report.
