HC Deb 18 July 1991 vol 195 c265W
Mr. Rooker

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what criteria are used to determine whether allegations of war crimes between 1939 to 1945 in the Channel Islands can be investigated by the war crimes unit.

Mr. John Patten

The prime responsibility for dealing with allegations of offences in the Channel Islands rests with the island authorities. The war crimes unit investigates on their merits specific allegations which appear to fall within the terms of the War Crimes Act 1991.
